ezPower / Re: How to zero out the sales database
« on: May 14, 2014, 07:12:26 AM »
Hmm, that is different from the procedure I vaguely remember from several years ago.  I recall having to delete one (or more?)  .ezp files.   After doing that, restart of the POS generated blank database file(s), then I was off to the races.

Does that ring a bell?

ezPower / How to zero out the sales database

Hello,

I am using the restaurant POS.   I need to clear the sales database and start collecting data anew, but retain all settings in the register.  What is the procedure for this?

Thanks,

Greg

ezPower / Excellent Product and Support

I want to thank Denver Research and Ron for the excellent product ezPOS.

It continues to exceed our expectations, and when we decide we need to add a feature, we usually find it's already there -- just needs to be turned on.

We are a small, privately owned business, and so had to inexpensively create our own POS.  We selected ezPOS and installed and configured it on hardware we procured.  The configuration was straight-forward, and options (flexibility) amazing.

When we can't find something in the documentation (Ron, it does have holes in it, which if filled could probably save you some calls) or the forums, Ron is quick with an answer, or in the rare case of a bug, getting a fix out to us.

Thanks very much for a great, and affordable POS!

Rock and roll, Ron!  It is working now.

Thanks very much for the update.

BTW, I tried the new version out on Win7 and on my Linuxmint v13 PC. ezPOS runs on Linux, unlike my early testing of the program v12 (?) which I could not get to run on Linux (with WINE).   Linux heads will know what WINE is.

This program continues to amaze me with its features and flexibility, and your responsiveness.

You are a huge help to this small business!

Ron, this worked....but only on my dev PC.   When I implemented it on my production cash register in the the store, name did not print.   Really left me scratching my head.

Then I thought could it be the POS version?   I find they are different.  On my dev PC at home where this works, I'm running version 13.499, 9/5/11.  In the store, v 13.591, 10/16/2012.   Really odd that a newer version in the store wouldn't do what my dev PC at home can.

I even went so far as to completely close ezPower and restart it, but no-go, though my printer settings remain checked.   What do you suggest?

So close to a solution!   :)

I tried using "Name Tag".   I entered the name into the sale, but it did not print on the receipt/kitchen slip.

Also entered a name in the "Payment Info" box that appears after payment is tendered.  Also, name did not print

Ron,

I'm not sure, but I think this is what we're also looking for in our quick service restaurant.  I'm looking for the feature you see it a lot -- the cashier enters the order and asks for my name.  I say "Greg", which they type into the order.  This appears on the receipt which I get, AND it goes on the kitchen ticket.   When the order's up, they call out my name to come to the counter for pick-up OR they walk out in the dining room with the tray, calling my name.

I don't want to enter a name each product, just per ticket.  Is that what the above will do?

If so, I don't see where to access the "Prompt field" for Requires Customer Name"

Thanks

How do "Open Sales" occur, likewise "Unused Payments"

What does "Clean" do?

What does "Reset Z-out" do?

How do "Open Sales" occur, likewise "Unused Payments"

How do I remove them?  I can find the open sales in the Sales Control tool. Perhaps from there I can close them.  But I don't know where to find the "Unused Payments"

There is no explanation of the Clean Points screen at all in documentation.

Ron, thanks for the update.  I backed up and installed without a hitch.

I ran clean, but nothing seemed to happen and I have a lot of Open Sales and Unused Payments which I do not understand how they happen and what the impact on the database is.

I've got a number of questions about the Optimize number page.  I took screen shots which I would like to include but when I attempt to attache to the post I get this error:

"The attachments upload directory is not writable. Your attachment or avatar cannot be saved."

Can you fix that so that I can post my questions with illustrations by way of example?

Thanks

ezPower / Email Report Taking too long
« on: October 16, 2012, 07:13:32 AM »
Hi Ron,

When we use the Tools, Email Report function, it takes excessively long to compile and send the report, about 10 minutes.  We use this daily as part of our Z-out procedure, and the report contains only today's sales data.  We do 120 - 200 transactions a day.

Is there something we can do to speed up the report?  Compiling an end of day report for this many transactions should be so laborious.

I've taken a look at the sales control and find that we now have 51,000 + transactions in our database.

Does the database need to be optimized, and if so, how?

Thanks
