Updating Inventory Description on a different computer
« on: March 14, 2017, 04:13:27 PM »
So I also have the program installed on my laptop at home so I can mess around with it to try and perfect it for my needs.  I have a lot of things I need to fix such as new price increases for both cost and retail and also some description changes and such.  I know I can get my most current inventory list from my store on my laptop to take it home, but if I fix it all from home how can I upload the new fixes to my store POS without affecting inventory levels that may have changed from a couple days of selling things.

I want to change all the info except for stock when I upload the fixes.  Is this possible.  Also, I've never used excel so I was hoping to do it in the system and export and then upload it at the store.

You can use the Remote option for updating the product information without changing the inventory.

I paid for that last year but is that built into the program?  I could never could find it or any instructions and I always forgot to ask if it was a separate program.

Is there info on how it works anywhere?  Is it built into the program?  thanks

Yes.  It's built in.
Open the Product Control.  All the function are under the Remote menu.  Use the Remote Report Options to setup your store to look for updates automatically.  Set the Store number and how often to check.  And, use the Register button at the store computer.
Or, use the Remote / Check for Product Updates manually at the stores computer.

At home use the Remote / Send Products in List to Stores.  This will upload a file for the store to read.  It sends most of the product information except it won't change the inventory.

Besides changing prices this way without changing inventory levels, if on my home computer I delete a product because I won't use it in the future is it going to delete the product on the POS end if it doesn't see it during an update?  Or if a product isn't there on an update will it not delete it and just leave it as it was?

Also, from my home laptop if I make changes, does it e-mail a file or auto upload it?  From the POS side how does it know where to grab it from?

We have spent MONTHS trying to figure out how to e-mail reports but we simply cannot even set up report e-mails, it just never works.  So I am worried if we are going to have the same issues with this possibly.

I'm trying to play around with the "Remote > Send Products in List to Stores" but honestly it is confusing.  Perhaps I am understanding the process wrong.  I am trying to "send the update" from my home, 30 miles away from my store.  Is this meant only to send updates on the same network?  I have my Oceanfront POS System as #2 with the name ATL and my home laptop with the newer files as #1 with a name of LYN and at home on the laptop when I open up the "Send Products in List to Stores" the other system is not showing up.

How do you know which POS System is the "Main Office" is?  It store #1?

Groups 1 -4? Not even sure what this is.

I figured it would be you could select the POS System, such as #2 and send the file but the entire process doesn't seem to be as user friendly as it should.  Perhaps the HELP Guide would assist me better but I still am having the issue of whenever we try to open up the Help Guide it just lists a million random, very weird characters.

Honestly if I can just export or save a file and then e-mail that file to myself at the store and then open that file at the Store POS that would be perfect.

What can I do to export or save a file that will change the description and pricing but not change the Stock when I import into my Store POS?
