Excel and UPC Codes Upload
« on: August 02, 2012, 03:39:47 PM »
Hi, I recently exported my products and changed the markup for all products. After importing the products (while zeroing the stock), i realise that i lost all my UPC codes as excel has applied scientific formating to them.

Luckily i have a backup, but the problem is that excel keeps applying scientific formating even when i change the format to "Text".

I know this is more of an excel question, but any help will be appreciated.

You are correct to set the field to Text.  It shouldn't convert the data to a number if the field is text.  I've used Excel this way thousands of times.  Double check that everything is formated to text.

Also, when saving from Excel use the Save As... and set the file format to Text with Tab delimited.

Excel will do that if you don't use the Text format.

UPC is the barcode number on the lable.  You can't add fields.  The best option is to find the closest match.
