We have done several lay-a-ways today and when we look at sales totals, it appears like they are completely paid for.  When we check the customes themselves, it shows the correct amount paid.  Is there a way to make it not show the total in sales, just the amount they actually paid?

Each sale has two components.  The Sale amount and the Paid amount.  What kind of report are you looking at?  A sales report will show the full amount of the sale.  A payment report will only show the amount paid.
