Return a out of stock product

We tried to return a product today that was the last one we had in the store when it was sold. The customer did not have a reciept, and when we went in to the product find and tried to chose the product, the system told us we are out of stock and it can not be sold. We had to adjust the stock to one so that we could choose the product and return it and then adjust the product again. Is there a better way to do this?

Use the "Returns" button.  If you don't see that on the sales screen use the Tools / Arrange Function Buttons from the Managers window to add it.

We had started the whole process with the return button, and ended up with the problem above. sorry should have put that in the last post.
