"one item per line" in General Settings
« on: August 15, 2015, 10:25:05 AM »
I'd like to NOT use the "one item per line" setting, since some of our receipt tapes get awfully long that way.

HOWEVER, I use the Z-out report to enter quantities sold into Quickbooks, and when I unclick the "one line per item" setting, I only get a quantity of each unique line item sold, and not the actual quantity of items overall.

For example, if I have the "one line per item" box checked, and sell 100 red vases of the same price, I get a 5-foot long receipt tape, but at least an accurate quantity of "100" on the z-out report.  If I DON"T have that box checked, I get a reasonably-size receipt tape, but then only a quantity of "1" on the z-out report!

For various reasons, I'm not interested in seeing the number of line items of transactions I've had for the day, I need to be able to see the actual number of items I've sold.

Isn't there some of separating my choices of how the transactions are recorded from how the z-outs are generated?

Thanks!

We can change the z-out to help you.  Also, did you know you can export the basic sales information to QuickBooks?

That would be great!

I recall running across something about exporting to Quickbooks, but I can't seem to find it again in the Help manual.  Where is that located?

Thanks!

Sales Control.  Use the File / Sales Export.  It doesn't export the product information but only the basic sales information.  It saves a iif QuickBooks file you can import.

Hi Ronald,
Could I have you change the z-out?  That would help lots.  Thanks!

Update sent.  Run the setup on all your computers and let me know how it works.

That sure seems to do it, Ronald - thanks!

The only thing that threw me off for a bit was the quantities showing up to 2 decimal points (looked like more dollar amounts at first!).  This will help a lot, though.

Hi Ronald,

Well, the 2 decimal points on the quantities is generally no problem - until I get to prices of $1 or $2.  Then all the numbers start looking the same and data entry becomes more error-prone.

So, if you could possibly bring the quantity values down to zero decimal places - when you have some free time and are fiddling with that part of the software again - I'd be forever in your debt.

Thanks for all your efforts!

Bob

Ronald, just one question about this - is there a way to have daily sales sent to QB as TOTALS this way? I'm trying to figure out whether it would work for me, but I really don't need (or want) every single sales transaction recorded individually in QB.

Thanks!

Each sale is separate.

Okay, I see how that works.

Actually, I'm surprised at how much data IS in there - payment methods, type of sale (merchandise vs service), etc.  I think this might just work.  thanks!
